Simple ASCII Painter (SAP) is a program for painting bitmap fonts on an endless grid. Paint, erase, replace and pick tiles on different layers. Choose color and character and save as blueprint for later. Add attributes  / meta data to blueprints and later save it all to a .json file. Painted tiles are saved to .png images.

Thank you for visiting my project! SAP was a side project wich turned into a full program. I started it as a way to learn the Godot game engine and how to place tiles on endless grids. It has grown a lot since starting and I tried to make it as simple as possible to use. Bugs and performance issues are due to it starting out as a side project, without a full plan of what it has become. Yet, I have tried to fix all bugs that I have encountered and it should be stable. If not, please write a comment describing the problem. I am open for feedback or reviews!

So amazing! Can we import other sets other than ASCII?

You have to create a new project first. Open SAP, click File / Add Save / Save and confirm "Create a new save...". You can access the files with "Open Folder". There you will find your new save with the font_override file to replace.  Don't forget to change the tile size value in the json file. When done, you can go back to SAP and press Load after selecting your project. It should load the new bitmap! If you only see a black square, change the paint color to white.
You can find more info under "Help".

Right now it only works with one tile size for all tiles and only one bitmap/tileset file. I know that this is very limiting...

Hope this helps and thank you!
